Patience

Patience
Hey Everyone! Today my devotional is going to be on patience. I will be focusing on two aspects of patience. Waiting on others and God, and how to grow in your patience.

Romans 8:25
"But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience."

Psalms 37:7
" Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries evil devices."

Psalms 40:1
"I waited patiently for the Lord; he to inclined me and heard my cry."

James 5:7-8
"Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the late rains. You also, be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand."

The first reference, Romans 8:25, states that we need to wait for what we are hoping for patiently. Psalms 37:7 and 40:1 state that we need to wait patiently for the Lord. He hears us, and we need to trust that His timing is perfect. James 5:7-8 says that we need to wait patiently for the Lord's return. This particular verse reminds me of a song call Even So Come. That song is a perfect picture of James 5:7-8. God calls us to be patient. Being patient is not easy and God knew that, so he gave us many other references to look at to encourage us.

Philippians 4:11
"Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content."

Hebrews 10:35-36
"Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised."

James 1:2-4
"Count it all joy, my brothers, when you  meet trials of various kind, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full affect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing"

Philippians 4:11 teaches us something that takes much patience. In order to be positive and content in every situation we need patience. If we can do this, we can also grow in our patience. Hebrews 10:35-36 talks about confidence and endurance while accomplishing the will of God. This also takes patience and teaches you patience. Sometimes we cannot see the full picture but it truly takes patience to keep on enduring. James 1:2-4 looks on the bright side of our trials. One thing we need to remember during trials and tests of faith is that we will come out stronger. Patience takes a lot of endurance, faith, trust, and most definitely a lot of work. God wants us not only to be patient with Him, but with others and during trials as well. Patience requires kindness most of all. They both go hand in hand. I hope this devotional will be helpful to you. I pray that you will strive to be more patient with God, others, and during tests of faith.

Love,
Samy
